meganIt's time for some Friday fun! Time to add a LadyBaller fav to your twitter list. Featured in lists titled: Conversationalists, Bloggers, Sports, Baseball, Minnesota, Interesting Reads... you know @Twinsbsballgirl is interesting.

Self described on her blog: Defining Megan, "Not the typical young woman. I had a life plan. That life plan didn’t involve staying in South Dakota, getting out of politics, or still being single at this point in my life. I have now determined that life plans aren’t for me. I want stability, but I also want to live my life. I am still figuring out who I am day by day so follow me in that journey. I will be Defining Megan day by day. Live the life you love. Love the life you live." So if you want to chat with a fun, witty, intelligent sports fan, follow her!

Featured Foundation: Vinny Lecavalier Foundation

As you know, us LadyBallers love to feature Foundations and Organizations started or supported by athletes. We think these efforts really need so additional attention because athletes are doing wonders for so many things other than the sports they are playing. They are going above and beyond their role as a sports figure and we appreciate that as fans. We will be featuring organizations that we respect and believe in and hope you take the time to learn about them. If there is one you would like us to feature, give us a shout!

VLC2I have never been a huge hockey fan but I have been forced to watch and attend some lightning games because of a former boyfriend of mine.

Female Sports Professional: Lauren Shehadi

LSWe have been on a little hiatus due to the NBA Playoffs (RIP Magic) taking our attention but we are back with a BANG! Today we are featuring Lauren Shehadi with CBS as CBSSports.com/CBS College Sports Network Anchor and Reporter.

How long have you been in the sports industry? 6 years

Please give us a little background on how you got to your current role: I work daily as an anchor for CBSSports.com. I also cover college football and action sports for The CBS College Sports Network.  I remember when I stopped playing sports, there was a void to fill. At the time, I was a freshman at the University of Florida and thought I could keep sports a part of my life by majoring in sports journalism. My first interview was Steve Spurrier, I was shaking in my boots.

Magic Playoffs - Round 1

playoffsPlayoff time, can you believe it? It's been one crazy NBA season so far, can't wait to see what the Playoffs bring!

Round 1:

Magic (52-30, No. 4 seed)

vs.

Hawks (44-38, No. 5 seed)

This season, The Hawks took the series 3-1 and, not to take away from the Hawks, but the Magic were in the middle of fighting some issues including sickness, injuries and the "blockbuster" trade!

“I think our guys have been waiting for this for a while,” Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy said. “If we’re healthy and play at a good energy level and play to our potential, we can beat anybody.”

LadyBallers in Big D!

As many of you may know, I recently moved to Dallas. I could not possibly miss my Orlando family more, but I am happy to be making a fresh start in several areas of my life. It was time for me to be closer to family again, and Dallas seemed like the right place for me to be. So far, I'm loving it! It feels like home already... Now, I just need to get my LB gals to come visit (or move in with me... either way.)

This also means that it's time to get the Dallas branch of LadyBallers up and running! So, this is my shout out/

Stay Dwight!

Dwight

Very recently a website and facebook fan page called StayDwight.com was started to encourage Orlando Magic center and superstar to stay in Orlando after his contract expires and I couldn't agree more! Howard's current contract runs through the 2012-13 season, but he could utilize an early termination option and become a free agent after next season.

Dwight has not only given new life to the Orlando Magic as a team, but he as also done so much for the city of Orlando. He is one of the most active members of the Magic within the community. Dwight is always donating time and money to children and families all around the city. He has won the Community Enrichment Award *five* times in the past six years and has his own non-profit organization, the D12 Foundation. His heart seems as big as his stature!

Female Sports Professional: Alana Glass

AGHave you ever thought to yourself, "Gosh, I really want to be an owner?"

Females, we hear you! Yes, there may be a higher mountain to climb for us and that is why for this week's Female Sports Professional, we wanted to dedicate it to a Alana Glass who believes... "To me ownership is the opportunity to fulfill my entrepreneurial spirit. Create something from nothing. Be my own boss. Be innovative. Inspire and shape tomorrows athletes. Entertain fans. Renew the competitive spirit.  Facilitate teamwork. Make a difference. Dream big. Now that I have a vision for the future, a professional degree and work experience to match I am ready to say I Want To Be An Owner."

What did she do? She took many steps and shares them on her site where she is the Founder and CEO of http://www.iwanttobeanowner.com.  She is also launching Kennedy Clay Sports & Entertainment this summer so make sure to stay tuned for that! http://kennedyclay.com.

Final Four

VCUHow insane is this seasons Final Four matchup?!?!

For the first time since 1979, the Final Four is without a number one or number two seed! After giving one of the biggest upsets to Kansas, VCU is in its first EVER Final Four appearance. This hits a little bit closer to home for me because point guard Joey Rodriguez graduated from my rival high school Lake Howell right outside of Orlando.

What Gives?

Last week my mother calls me to tell me she finished her bracket. I'm half listening to all herpicks when I zone in on her National Champion pick. She proclaims that it's going to be Duke and Butler in the National Championship, with Butler winning this time around. I inform her that she is crazy because Butler isn't as good they were last year and Duke is a better team then they were last year. I ask her what her deal is, how she can have Pitt and St. John's exiting so early, and if in some divine interference Duke and Butler meet what kind of logic does she have in that pick? My mother goes on and on about how it's her gut feeling and to mark her words.
