NBA All-Star Orlando 2012

If I had to describe Orlando All Star Weekend 2012 in one word it would be, LEGENDARY. And since I am going through withdrawals this weekend, I thought I would relive it by posting all about it.

Dwight Howard Launching "Gifts from the Heart" Today

Following a history of generous giving, Dwight Howard is pleased to announce the launch of his new Orlando based foundation, the D12 Foundation with "Gifts from the Heart," this Valentine's Day. Celebrating the launch, D12 Foundation will make contributions to organizations close to Dwight's heart and motivate others to do the same. Dwight will visit four outstanding local charities to present donations and get to know the clients who benefit from these charities, as well as the teams that work endlessly to help those in need.

Ten Powerful Phrases for Positive People

devosOne thing I truly love about the Orlando Magic Organization is the solid fondation that is behind it year in and year out.  No matter the players or the win/loss ratio, they have a team that is backed by a huge heart and character and that is the DeVos family. Rich DeVos has owned the Orlando Magic since '91 and his family continues to have a huge hand in the entire organization.  However, not only do they run the back-end side of things (stuff the normal fan may not pay attention to) but they make it a personal goal to reach out to the players and motivate them for team and personal benefit.

The NBA's "Special Blessing"

This month the NBA lost a dedicated player who made an incredible impact on the sport of basketball and on his native country Sudan. Manute Bol, 7-foot-7 shot-blocker extraordinaire, sadly was taken away due to complications with a skin condition called Stevens–Johnson syndrome.  He will be greatly missed by the entire NBA association and fans.  He not only stood out in the NBA with his unique skill sets (he is the only player in NBA history to have more blocked shots than points scored) but also for his dedication and humanitarianism throughout his lifetime.
Bol played in the NBA with Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia, and Miami. He had two runs with the Sixers and will always be remembered as an incredible asset to the community. “Manute’s impact on this city, our franchise and the game of basketball cannot be put into words,” 76ers president and general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement. “He … was continually giving of himself through his generosity and humanitarian efforts in order to make the world around him a much better place, for which he will always be remembered.”

The reasons everyone should respect DH

For the past 6 seasons Orlando has had the pleasure of having one of the most amazing young gentleman of the league lead the team! I seriously cannot imagine the Magic without Dwight Howard, he is such a staple in my head for this team and city overall! Yes, he is young and still has a ton to learn and many years of experience to add under that Superman cape but he knows this! Dwight ALWAYS has a smile on his face and that huge white grill is always showing because you can tell how positive and electric he is!
