As soon as Game 6 of the NBA finals was over and the Mavs were the champs I shot up a quick thank you to the basketball gods for making all things right in the basketball world!
It was my love for fellow LadyBaller, Alexis, and my hate for the Miami Heat that had me cheering and routing for the Mavs during this season. I learned more and more about the Mavs are realized what everyone meant when they said they are a real team.
They have a true veteran lineup with players like 17 year baller Jason Kidd, 10 year veteran JET Terry and 13 year, 10 time NBA Allstar, Dirk Nowitzki.
This Mavericks team did everything every team wants to do. They played off each others' strengths and helped each other with any weaknesses (without ego). Coach Carlisle wasn't afraid to change up the starting lineup adding JJ in the lineup during game 3 of the series vs the Heat. Some players and teams may have let their egos get in the way but not the Mavs, they trusted their coach and the decsions he makes and he lead them to this championship.
I read an article today about Dirk and his lack of endorsements for no other reason than he doesn't want to do them. He doesn't even have an agent and he negotiates all of his deals with the Mavericks himself, in a world where players are thrown all over the televsion and magazine, The NBA Finals MVP doesn't have endorsement deals... think about that.
This Mavericks makes me believe in sports again. This Mavericks team loves the game and worked together to acheive a goal - a championship ring!
Do I think the Heat are going to win a championship? Yes, but I am glad it wasn't this year. This Mavericks desereved it. Do you agree? What are your thoughts?
