The LadyBallers attended their inaugural community event since our site has been launched this past Thursday and it was a huge success. We attended the Kevin Holden Celebrity Fashion & Jewelry Show to raise money for The Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure .
Since there were 4 of us we purchased the “Sex in the City VIP” package, which included a table set-up by the runway. Sweet! We scored a table next to the current Orlando Magic Community Ambassador, and Jessica’s all-time favorite Magic player, Nick Anderson. He was amazing as always. I truly respect the amount of time and dedication he has given through the years to an Organization that you can see he bleeds passion for. Orlando was lucky to have him as a record breaking, key player for years as well as currently having him as the city’s Magic Ambassador.
During the intro of the show, Adonal Foyle gave an amazing welcome and explanation of the mission of the KLF. Us LadyBallers have been very aware of this foundation, as it has been around since 2005. We have also attended previous events, however, this speech was so impressive; a thorough explanation of how the foundation began and why, as well as demonstrating the honesty and love for his effort and the appreciation he has for all of its supporters. Foyle is a native of St. Vincent & the Grenadines and an Orlando Magic professional basketball player. The name "Kerosene Lamp" refers to the way Adonal would study on an island without electricity, and symbolizes his mission to brighten the futures of today's youth. KLF uses basketball as a bridge to the next generation, promoting education and health awareness, providing free basketball clinics and building/refurbishing basketball courts.
Also there, supporting their awesome organization and fellow player’s foundations were Orland Magic’s JJ Redick and, reporting live from the event, our awesome go-to Magic insiders, Dante & Galante!
Events like this really make our hearts glow for Sports Organizations. Everyday we get bogged down with rumors, gossip and useless drama that put a bad name on professional sports. It is really refreshing when players, fans and organizations take their personal time to give effort and support for such great causes.
We look forward to donating more time and effort towards great events and organizations such as these... Makes being a fan more personally rewarding!
There was also a silent auction to raise additional money for the causes and it was full of items from Football to Boxing and ranging from The Beatles to Twilight! There was a specific item your LadyBallers had their eye on which was of course, a networking/social function with the gentleman of the evening, Adonal Foyle! We had a bidding war with some others but we came out on top and will be attending a dinner at Luma with Adonal sometime in the near future. If you have any questions you would like us in inquire about please send them here!
Our next event will be Adonal Foyle’s Birthday Celebration! – hope to see you there!
A goal of the LadyBallers is to highlight all of these great events and organizations that need more light shined on them throughout the sports community. If there is an organization you or your favorite team/player is associated with and would like to see highlighted on our site, let us know which ones in the comments section or on our Contact Us page.
