How insane is this seasons Final Four matchup?!?!
For the first time since 1979, the Final Four is without a number one or number two seed! After giving one of the biggest upsets to Kansas, VCU is in its first EVER Final Four appearance. This hits a little bit closer to home for me because point guard Joey Rodriguez graduated from my rival high school Lake Howell right outside of Orlando.
The Rams were not predicted to be anywhere near the Final Four, but they turned it ON giving season high performances in almost every tournament game played. VCU coach Shaka Smart said "We went through some adversity this year, as most teams did, we weren't 35-2 coming into this game, but we're playing our best basketball when it matters most, and that's why I'm sitting here right now with a net around my neck."
Out of 5.9 million entries on ESPN's Bracket challenge only 2 have predicted the Final Four teams correctly. I think they must have the ability to see into the future. The US government should look into these two people, for sure!
This tournament has provided the most upsets and OMG moments I have ever experienced. I can't wait for them to continue. I am a sucker for a good underdog story and the road VCU has taken proves that anything is possible! I must say I am pulling for UCONN since it was my dads favorite team, BUT I wouldn't be upset if VCU takes it home!
