In a previous post, I talked about how the NBA is ruining the game by using technical fouls too much calling some of the most ridiculous technical fouls I have ever seen and something similar is going on with the NFL fining players for "dangerous" hits and unneccasary roughness.
How do you tame one of the most violent and physical sports?
Now I completely understand not wanting players to be hurt. There are players in the past who have been paralyzed from hits while playing football and it is the duty of the NFL and it's players to be safe and smart but let's not suck the fun out of the game and most of all the physical aspect out of the game. James Harrison of the Steelers has been fined 100k for illegal hits this season and to me it didnt look worth being fined. In fact, no flags were thrown on the field for those particular hits! Hmmmm.
Big hits are what keeps the fans watching. We want to see quarterbacks sacked and we wanna see them hit hard. We allow players to fist fight in hockey, but we won't allow NFL players to hit each other hard?
NFL players know what they are getting themselves into we need to keep the players safe, but let's not go overboard you have to keep your fans happy as well.
