In an attempt to have more versatility in this blog, I decided to start a series called, “Talking To Chicks Who Love Hoops.” I basically pick their brains about hoops and just about everything else… so this is really not your typical “NBA entry”.
I exchange E-Mails with a lovely lady named Alexis. I met this chick on Twitter after I got into a little mess with another lovely woman named Colleen and some dude who used to blog for Yay Sports as he now gives mad props to baked potatoes. You can follow Alexis, Colleen, and Potato Boy on Twitter. Yeah, that evil networking thing.
Anyway, Alexis is an Orlando Magic and Dallas Mavericks fan. My E-Mails are in green and her E-Mails are in blue. Happy reading.
What is it that you see about Dirk Nowitzki? When did you fall in love with him? Are you seriously into 7-foot Germans? Or 7-foot Germans that are into singing David Hasselhoff songs. Hey, now. I may not be 7 feet (in fact, I’m a scant 5-foot-7) but I know my David Hasselhoff songs, too! YouTube Jump In My Car; it’s great.
But you mentioned you were actually originally from Dallas. So did you always root for the Dallas Mavericks? Then if you did, you must know the great legends like Rolando Blackman, Derek Harper, and Brad Davis. Brad Davis looks like a truck driver. But I digress.
So what happens then if the Dallas Mavericks go against your other dear team, the Orlando Magic? Is that like your two children competing against each other?
And since I don’t see too many girls that are into sports… are you like… typically a dude? Do you yell like mad when something goes wrong? Will you punch someone in the face when your team loses? I should know because I’ve gotten punched on my arm like four times when the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Arizona Cardinals.
I hope you don’t E-Punch me just because my E-Mail is a bit obnoxious. I’m just trying to get some conversation going. So if you have any questions, feel free. I’m quite open. Like my friend’s mom.
Haha. That was too funny!! ok, I’ll try to answer all your questions…
Dirk actually is not my typical type of guy. (redundant much?) – the tall part, yes. the blonde part, not at all. I do like that he is kinda dorky, though. I like his weird quirkyness. and of course i love watching him play! (mostly when he’s doing really well and gets those awesome money shots.) I think I started falling for him a few years ago… Like… 04-05ish? not sure. and not sure why. haha.
No, I wasn’t always a Mavs fan… when I was little my dad was a big Celtics/Larry Bird fan, so I remember watching them a lot. and then for a while I had a thing for Reggie Miller and the Pacers. hahaha. also loved Sir Charles (still do… he cracks me up!) so yeah, I kind of jump around. but Dirk is the love of my life, so far. :)
Yeah, the Magic/Mavs thing is hard, but I guess you could say in that case I would be a bad parent and the Mavs would be my favorite kid. @ColleenBurns and I went to the Magic game when the Mavs were in town and I ended up rooting for them more. (and they won! woohoo! I love you Dirk!) I do love both of them, but when they’re playing each other, gotta go with my Mavsies!
Of course I would never call myself a dude! Ugh! Haha. and no, I don’t go around punching people. (tho I did kick boys in the shin a lot when I was like 7.) I will yell and cuss about games, but I’m not gonna punch anybody over it. and it’s not gonna put me in a bad mood the rest of the night. haha. So no e-punches for you! haha.
Did you read the blog post about me from @brianspaeth?? He still likes Colleen more, too… oh well. http://madpropstobakedpotatoes.com/?p=1468
Thanks, that was fun!! Haha
Take care, and I’ll look forward to your post!
So I hear your bff, @ColleenBurns (are we actually going to put this @ every time we talk about people), is TALL. I think I’m probably a dwarf compared to her. Then again, didn’t she say 5′10″ with shoes? Something like that? If this doesn’t sound rude, may I guess how tall you are? Maybe you’re 5′5″? Maybe we’re a better match, after all. No one wants to see a short dude besides a gorgeous woman. That’s always awkward.
I’ve always been about L.A. but I was always quite subdued as I gained an objective view of the game. That’s probably why I can blog without sounding too stupid. But you watched the Celtics, eh? We’d probably be wrestling if we were in the same room… but then again, I’ll assume I’m like… 10 years older than you are (maybe, not THAT much) so it would be weird to see something like a teenager picking on a baby.
Hey now! I never called you a dude. But, yeah, you yell and cuss during games? That’s hot. And I’d love to see you kick other people in the shins if Dirk gets clobbered with a flagrant foul or something. Just as long as the guy’s not me. Lord knows I’ve received enough abuse from a few sports chicks when I crack a stupid joke or something. But I think it’s because they have a crush on me.
I just read Brian’s post. I’m almost to the point where I don’t want to E-Mail your bff anymore. ;) You will surely get love from our blog. And I ain’t gonna share ya with my other boys in this blog. ;)
Mad props to baked potatoes, eh? I will throw a No-Look Pass to his face. Whaddup, Brian?
(is it cool if i just stick with the one ‘Rey’? I hope so.)
yeah, Colleen is 5′10″ barefoot, and I am 5′8″ barefoot. :) we are tall girls, especially with heels.
also, you can’t be that much older than I am. I think you should guess my age though… I’ll give you a hint… I’m no longer in high school, but I haven’t had my 20 year high school reunion yet. haha. have fun with that. and if you go too far over, I’m gonna be offended. just a warning.
I don’t get violent over sports. nor do I wrestle. I bruise easily. my ex (@ChipAnderson) was on his wrestling team in high school, and before we were dating (when we were just good friends) he would practice his moves on me to show off for our other friends. it was not fun for me. I’ve got mean thumb-wrestling skillz, though. you can thank my older (taller) brother for that. also, Dirk doesn’t pull that flagrant foul business. he plays fair. (I love you Dirk!!)
yeah, nice little post from Brian… pretty sure he hasn’t moved me up to Colleen’s level, yet. (even though I have just started reading his Brad Radby book on the site… bonus points, Brian???) but I can’t allow you to take my lovely Colleen out of this equation!! I neeeeed her!!! :)
(I just realized I should have some kind of catch phrase to sign my emails. that would be fun, right?)
Peace and cupcakes,
Again, this will be an ongoing series so I’ll have more of these E-Mails in the future. Stay tuned!
