During starting lineups before the Lakers game I turned to Colleen and said "I just don't have any love for Jason Richardson, he's just kind of there." She agreed and 10 seconds later we moved on cheering for the rest of the team. The point of that is a team is a team and you love your team, not a logo. It's not that I don't like JRich, I want him to succeed and prosper, it's just that I don't have that connection to him... yet. Clearly the rest of Amway feels the same because he always gets the least raucous cheers.
My whole point to this is if I was a die hard Miami Heat fan I would probably go insane. When will it ever stop? There are 20 games left in the season and you're still making deals and dropping players. Mind you, players who have gotten you to where you are right now are hanging out to dry. I have always liked Mike Bibby, ever since I was a child. But, come on dropping out of your contract and taking you're "jump shot to South Beach"? Are you really going to feel like part of the team? If, and I mean if, the Heat happen to win the championship is he really going to feel like that is his? I know he got traded to the Wizards, but if he won a championship with the Hawks don't you think it would mean a little more? Is he really going to look at himself in the mirror and say "I'm a real champion" every morning.
Don't give me this "he gave up 6.2 million dollars to win" deal. Really, what is 6.2 million dollars when you've been in the league 13 years. I guess everything is just personal preference. If I were to win a championship I would want to do it with people I consider friends and family, not acquaintances. And if I were a fan of a team who won the championship I would want it to be with guys I have loved and supported throughout their careers, or at least the season. Poor Carlos Arroyo can't ever seem to catch a break. How mad would you be if you were him?
I don't know, maybe it's just me. Maybe getting a ring no matter what you have to do is the most important thing. Nah, I don't buy that. I don't think it means half of much and personally I don't think I would want to do it that way. For the record Bibby's point guard ranking according to me
is .56 which would place him at the prestigious number 27.
The more players they obtain the more I want them to fail. At the beginning of the season I said "I really hope these guys don't make me hate the Heat". Unfortunately, I think it's heading in that direction. At least I have a team to root for and not just a logo. Go Magic!
